Centipedes and millipedes are easy to recognize, with long bodies and many pairs of legs. Together, centipedes and millipedes make up a group of animals called myriapods, meaning “many legs.” Centipedes are agile predators with keen senses and poisonous fangs. Centipede and millipedes belong to class Chilopoda of the subphylum Myriapoda, which is an arthropod group of multi-legged creatures. Learn the difference between Centipede and Millipede. The basis of comparison include: body shape, classification, number of legs per segment, legs appearance, spiracles, genital opening, number of legs, antennae, movement, reproduction among many others.

The legs of millipedes range from 34 to A centipede has a flat brownish body which is divided into multiple segments. Centipedes are at least an inch long. Centipedes have a pair of legs per segment, and their legs range from 30 to The legs of a centipede are attached to its sides, and they are longer than the millipede’s : Geoffrey Migiro. Millipedes' bodies are rounder, while centipedes have a flatter appearance and elongated antennae. Centipedes are also much quicker than millipedes. The most important difference is that centipedes are carnivores and some species can bite. A centipede's bite is quite painful and its venom can cause health problems.

Millipedes are a group of arthropods that are characterised by having two pairs of jointed legs on most body segments; they are known scientifically as the class Diplopoda, the name being derived from this double-legged segment is a result of two single segments fused together. Most millipedes have very elongated cylindrical or flattened bodies with more than 20 segments, while Class: Diplopoda, Blainville in Gervais, Myriapoda: Centipedes and Millipedes. Centipedes and millipedes are distantly related to lobsters, crayfish, and shrimp. These arthropods are widely distributed throughout the world, and they are characterized by a long, flat, multisegmented body with one (centipede) or two (millipede) legs emerging from each body segment.
